About Dorrie

As a Certified Career Management Coach and Founder of Career Transition Services, I’m dedicated to partnering with those in career transition, with a special focus and expertise in working with mid-career professionals who are seeking a change…whether it’s to advance in their career or move in a new career direction.

A deep interest in career development spans much of my professional life beginning years ago (longer than I’d like to admit) when I interned in the Career Center at Florida State University during graduate school. I then spent ten years in leadership positions in public and private colleges, pursued post-graduate study in career development, and taught a college-level course in career decision making.

Since 2006, I’ve pursued my passion for career coaching on a full-time basis, working with hundreds of clients.  Given that we pour over 2,000 hours into our jobs each year, it’s my goal to help others spend that time involved in work that is energizing and inspiring—and to live with purpose and fulfillment.

Coaching Certifications and Training

I hold coaching certifications through the Coach Training Alliance and Career Coach Academy and earned the highly regarded Certified Career Management Coach designation awarded by the Career Coach Academy. As a member of the International Coach Federation, I’ve recently served for two years on the Board of the Tennessee Coaches Alliance, the local affiliate in Nashville.

My background includes Career Consultant training and certification through two global outplacement organizations, Drake Beam Morin (DBM) and Career Partners International (CPI). As a result of working in the outplacement industry, I’ve had the opportunity to support hundreds of professionals in career transition, helping clients conduct an effective, strategic search and land new jobs more quickly.

Value of a Coach

I like the way Thomas Leonard, a master coach and respected author, highlights the value of a qualified and caring coach. Leonard states that the professional coach is…

  • Your champion during a transition
  • Your sounding board when making significant decisions
  • Your partner in achieving personal and professional goals
  • Your co-strategist when transforming your goals into practical action steps
  • Your motivation when strong actions are called for
  • Your co-designer when creating a major project
  • Your unconditional support when you take a hit
  • Your mentor in personal development
  • Your beacon during stormy times
  • Your wake-up call if you don’t hear your own

I’d consider it a privilege to partner with you in these ways and encourage you to learn more about coaching by scheduling a complimentary strategy session.
