About Me
For over a decade I served as a college administrator in the area of student development, and a favorite part of my role involved supporting, guiding and challenging students toward the attainment of their goals. However, it seemed as though other job responsibilities often prevented me from focusing on what I most enjoyed. Now, as a professional coach, I have the opportunity to do what I do best 100% of the time!
Becoming A Coach
As I pursued professional coaching certification through the Coach Training Alliance, one of the Top Ten Coaching Training organizations in the world, I considered several areas of specialization. I determined to focus on career coaching for several reasons.
First, I’ve been interested in and studied career development over the past twenty years, beginning with an internship in the Career Center at Florida State University during my master’s program. Additionally, I’ve pursued post-graduate study in career development, provided career coaching to students at multiple colleges, and taught a college-level course, Career Information and Decision Making.
Furthermore, my life experiences have contributed to my work as a caring, compassionate, and effective coach. I’ve experienced the challenges of making numerous career transitions, so I’ve learned first-hand some of the obstacles as well as the shortcuts. And when I became a mother, I stepped out of the workplace for several years, so I understand what a woman faces as she prepares for re-entry.
During the training to become a Certified Coach, I took a separate and specialized course in Coaching Career Transitions–and it was the final piece that convinced me that this was the direction for me! As a coach, I’ve delighted in helping people discover new and exciting career possibilities and do what they love for a living.
I’ve been thankful for the people who have come alongside to help guide me along the path of my career transitions. As you begin your journey, consider investing in yourself and hiring a coach to help you make your way more quickly and with more ease.
